body mass index (bmi)

BMI stands for body mass index, and it’s a simple, widely accepted screening tool that is used as an estimate of body fat. BMI is a quick and widely used method to assess body fat based on a person’s weight and height. It is important to know that BMI is not a diagnosis. It is just one of many measures of your health. For adults, BMI is categorised into underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obesity (Obese Class I, Class II, Class III). Obesity is further subdivided into three classes.

This BMI calculator is for adults 20 and older.

Type 2 diabetes accounts for over 90% of all diabetes cases and can often be delayed or prevented. The International Diabetes Federation has developed a short online risk assessment to help individuals learn about their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes within the next ten years. The test is based on the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) developed and designed by Adj. Prof Jaana Lindstrom and Prof Jaakko Tuomilehto from the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Helsinki, Finland.
