QUICK ACTION FOR LOW BLOOD SUGAR
Hypoglycemia means low blood sugar, typically below 70 mg/dL. It can happen suddenly and may lead to serious complications if not treated quickly. Glucose is the body’s main source of energy, and low levels can affect brain function and physical activity.
Common causes of Hypoglycemia include:
- Skipping or delaying meals
- Exercising without adjusting food intake
- Taking too much insulin or diabetes medication

Mild to Moderate Symptoms
- Hunger
- Shakiness

Step1:
Check your blood sugar

Step 2:
If less than 70 mg/dL, eat 15 gms of fast acting carbohydrates:
- 3 to 4 glucose tablets
- 1/2 cup fruit juice or regular soda
- 1 table spoon sugar or honey
- 5 to 6 hard candies

Step 3:
Wait 15 minutes and recheck blood sugar

Step 4:
If still low, repeat step 2

Step 5:
Once normal, eat a small snack if the next meal is 1 hour away

- Do not give food or water if unconscious
